DAY 2 : Toshogu Shrine -> Akechidaira Plateau -> Lake Chuzenji Cruise -> Kegon Waterfall -> Hotel
Toshogu Shrine
Toshogu Shrine is a famous landmark in Nikko and the most renowned shrine in the area. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Set within a beautiful forest, the shrine complex consists of more than a dozen buildings adorned with intricate wood carvings and extensive gold leaf decorations. 
Akechidaira Plateau
Akechidaira Plateau (明智平) is located near the top of the Irohazaka Winding Road. From here, a ropeway takes about three minutes to an observation platform higher up the mountain, offering spectacular views of Kegon Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji. The plateau is also a popular spot to enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage. 
Lake Chuzenji Cruise
Lake Chuzenji, located in the Okunikko mountains, is a scenic spot famous for its autumn foliage, especially from mid to late October. The best way to enjoy the lake is by taking a cruise, allowing you to relax while admiring the beautiful lake and mountains covered in colorful autumn leaves. 
Kegon Waterfall
Kegon Waterfall, with a height of 100 meters, is the most famous waterfall in Nikko and is considered one of Japan’s three most beautiful waterfalls. Visitors can view the falls from a free observation platform or a paid platform at the base. An elevator takes you down 100 meters to the base, offering even more spectacular views of the waterfall. |
